Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, a related specialized area or field, or equivalent experience is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for aDatabase Manager and Tool Developer.This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:As member of the Integration & Test (I&T) Functional Area of the Missile Defense National Team for Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) (aka MDNT), this position will be paired with more experienced engineers to: - -Develop tools for data analysis and data loading - Manage databases - Ensure availability and durability of servers at all times - Development of tools to validate database loads - Development of analysis tools to examine large data sets

Candidate is expected to travel as needed (less than 10%) but the majority of work will be conducted at Schriever AFB. Some non-standard work hours are possible intermittently. Desired skills: Excel-based tools (VBA), understanding of relational databases and their development, and an understanding of test methods.KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:The candidate must possess the technical skills necessary to support testing under general supervision for the evaluation of hardware, software, algorithms and processes to verify and characterize the capabilities of the Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) element of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). Testing will take place in a variety of environments/venues (stand-alone and integrated testing; in a laboratory, at a warfighter site, and potentially within multi-element ground and flight tests). Candidate must have good communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, and an ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.

  • Experience with scripting languages (developing, debugging and maintaining) to develop data collection and management tools.

  • Must possess the technical skills to develop tools to evaluate software, algorithms, and validity of data loads into databases.

  • Ability to develop and maintain analysis tools in accordance with requirements provided by test analysts.

  • Ability to assist test analysts with tool troubleshooting.

Security Plus certificationwithin 6 months of employment. IAT LEVEL IIPREFERRED DEGREE TYPES AND EXPERIENCE:

0-2 years ExperienceProficiency with UNIX, including shell scripting; JAVA, BASH, MATLAB, and PYTHON coding; SQL query development; manipulation of large data sets; use of tools for test analysis automation; use of tools to validate database loads. Must be able to function as part of an experienced team in programming test tools managing databases.
