Athletic Trainer

Key Role:

Provide and facilitate injury prevention, basic acute care, effective rehabilitative care, and performance enhancement across the spectrum of a human performance program (HPP) and perform duties within the performance or rehabilitation domains, as needed. Provide HPP services for military force tactical athletes within the ATC’s scope of practice, including NATA and developing and promulgating training opportunities for HPP staff to enhance career development, potential for advancement, and further professional expertise, work with staff to ensure safe and effective operation of equipment used for patient care, and contribute to a safe working environment. Design and fabricate protective pads, equipment, and braces to help prevent and treat injuries, including the use of taping techniques. Provide instruction and guidance to help prevent injuries and maximize military forces tactical athletes’ physical conditioning and performance, participate in periodic meetings to review the care provided to patients, and identify opportunities for improvement. Serve as an advisor to the HPP manager in matters of injury prevention, sports medicine, and rehabilitation and serve as an advisor to HPP managers for administrative matters, including purchasing supplies, equipment, and supplemental fiscal requests. Collaborate throughout the HPP to enhance the quality of patient care delivered. Conduct equipment, product, and literature reviews to ensure the HPP stays current with the provision of care and work with the HPP manager developing and maintaining clinical practice guidelines to ensure consistency of care across all HPP facilities.

Basic Qualifications:

-5+ years of experience as an athletic trainer

-Experience in working with elite athletes, including collegiate, Olympic, military forces, or professional

-Ability to meet the physical demands of training with military forces, including hiking over rough terrain and functioning in austere environments to observe client training evolutions

-Ability to assist with strength and conditioning testing and training protocols and lift and manipulate loads or weights up to 20 kilograms

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BA or BS degree in Athletic Training

-NATABOC Certification

-CSCS Certification or ability to obtain a within one year of hire

Additional Qualifications:

-Secret clearance

-MA or MS degree in Athletic Training

-NSCA Strength and Conditioning Certification
