Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a versatile Technical Editor and Writer with graphic design, CBT and team leadership experience to join the Northrop Grumman team located in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The successful candidate writes, rewrites, edits, and formats technical documents such as technical orders, training material, standard operating procedures, and test procedures, to clearly and effectively communicate technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences. The candidate will acquire subject knowledge by interviewing subject matter experts and program level individuals, as well as conducting quality review of materials and documentation. This position also requires an individual who can design original graphics to enhance technical documentation and training products, ranging from small PowerPoint illustrations to posters, to interactive courseware (CBT).

Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Providing direction and oversight for the a technical writing team, in addition to performing many of the day-to-day tasks

  • Flow-down technical tasking / priorities of Program Management and Chief Engineer

  • Establishing milestones and monitor adherence to master plans and schedules, identify program risks and obtain solutions to include allocation of resources

  • Generating technical documents, such as technical orders, training material, standard operating procedures, and test procedures

  • Adhering to the naming conventions and document format standards

  • Reviewing documentation to ensure adherence to document and quality standards

  • Works on and across multiple projects as needed

  • Reviews, reports, and acts on program data metrics to benchmark effectiveness.

  • Contributes to the upgrading of standards and best practice guidelines

  • Prioritize requests and communicate schedule to all stakeholders including customers

  • Collaborate with other team leads


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 10 years of experience or a Master’s Degree with 8 years of experience; 14 years of related experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with a current Secret clearance

  • Ability to adhere to internal processes, and standards for quality and style

  • Must possess experience in Microsoft Office suite of tools including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Air Technical Orders

  • SENSOR program experience

  • Experience leading a technical writing team for program with multiple task orders/CLINs

  • Knowledge of Ground Based Radar systems

  • Background in development of Proposals for new government work

  • Experience writing and developing training courseware for a DoD customer

  • Experience in Adobe Photoshop, Captivate, and Acrobat
