Focus on the Family IT Project Manager in Colorado Springs, Colorado

As one of our IT Project Managers you will provide strong project leadership, and play a role in definition, coordination, and delivery of the technical aspects of Focus on the Family initiatives. These initiatives, with varied complexities ranging from smaller-scale “level I” projects to medium-to larger-scale “level II” projects, will require work with engineers, contractors, IT, online editors, and other roles throughout the ministry to ensure that all the project team members have a complete understanding of the customers’ project needs. This position is responsible to be aware of the overall direction of the project, timeline, and customers’ expectations; must be able to strategically manage situations that may unexpectedly evolve in the course of the project or in the customer relationship.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Develops project plans--project charters, data flow/process flow charts/relationship diagrams, communication matrix, risk assessments, work breakdown structures, timelines and any other template documents required for projects

Manages ministry projects based on Focus on the Family’s software development life cycle (SDLC) process and gathers appropriate sign-offs on project control documents

Develops and maintains strong, effective relationships with project teams

Works with other Project Managers, Project Management Manager, and IT management to analyze project plans for realistic objectives, scope, and process

Identifies and manages to major project milestones

Identifies and mitigates items impacting the successful delivery of project including impacts to timelines, budget, quality, and etc.

Builds and maintains customer relationships, monitoring customer perceptions of the deliverables, and providing customers with education and

options when challenges arise during the project

Monitors, tracks and manages all actual results against baseline plan

Owns the process of tracking and communicating issues, risks, and action items

Is actively involved in risk avoidance, including the updating templates regularly with detailed mitigation and contingency plans

Is responsible for up-to-date weekly communications of project status to Project Management Manager, Relationship Management, Project Owner and project stakeholders

Manages post-project activities including project assessment and documentation (e.g. lessons learned, and customer satisfaction surveys)

Provides and implements suggestions to improve overall Project Management processes to make each phase of the project more efficient

Tracks and reports time and progress against project plan milestones

Adheres to procedures for Incident Management, Problem Management, Release Management, Service Level Management, Capacity Management, Availability Management, Change Management and Configuration Management

Knowledge/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information systems or equivalent experience/certifications

4-6 years project management experience in the Internet/Intranet/IT industry to include diverse management/delivery of projects and services

Knowledge of basic PMI project management methodology, or equivalent

Formal training in scope management, risk management, advanced scheduling and software quality best practices

Competency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, MS Power Point, Visio, Internet Browsers

PMP Certified through PMI, preferred

Experience with Agile methodologies preferred but not required
