DaVita Clinical Training Specialist in Colorado Springs, Colorado

Summary

Assists the Learning and Talent Development Manager in the planning and implementing of teammate development programs directed toward the achievement of medical and professional excellence. Responsible for clinical technical skills training, soft skills training and technology training. Will assist with new teammate orientation. Tracks teammate attendance of training events, performs administrative data entry and maintenance of the organizations e-training software. Assists the Learning and Talent Development Manager in maintaining the teammate development budget, processing teammate development/reimbursement requests, manage the Advanced Care Provider (ACP) and Physician student program, and maintain teammate development files.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Analyze and communicate clinical training needs;

  • Develop training courses and related materials in conjunction with the Learning and Talent Development Manager and subject matter experts;

  • Apply adult learning concepts and conducts and deliver training in various formats such as one-on-one, groups, and via e-learning;

  • Examine training evaluations in order to assess effectiveness of training sessions and to implement suggestions for improvements;

  • Assist with the coordination of the New Teammate Orientation program (NTO);

  • Conducts all clinical training associated with NTO such as Clinical Teammate Orientation (CTO) and all other clinical realated training events in support of the market;

  • Responsible for development and preparation of clinical lesson plans, classroom instructional materials and hand-outs, criterion referenced testing, and identifying and preparing necessary revisions of materials;

  • Track clinical teammate training; data enter training verification of attendance using e-Learning software. Report status of training attendance to leadership;

  • Administer CPR/ACLS/PALS/NRP certification program, coordinate with vendors for all on and off-site trainings;

  • Monitor clinical registration and Licensure statuses (MA, RN, Techs). Provides mothly status report s to leadership;

  • Responsible for NP, PA, and Physician Student program; Work with DMG Providers/Leadership and NP/PA Practicum students to facilitate rotations. Maintains school affiliation agreements in conjunction with Learning and Talent Development Manager;

  • Responsible for MA Extern Student Program. Work with Leadership to facilitate rotations and monitor attendance of semiannual Professional Advisory Committes by designated DMG Teammate;

  • Accurately input information, extract information, and generate clinical teammate development reports to meet the needs of the department and/or DMG.

Teammate Health:

  • Works with People Services and the Medical Offices to schedule pre-placement evaluations and provides appropriate follow-up attention to the findings of pre-employment physical examinations through an electronic medical record, ReadySet;

  • Ensures Preparation and distribution of documentation required for teammate health screenings for Orientation/ Blood Borne Pathogen Training/Needle stick Prevention training;

  • Works in conjunction with Occupational Health and Safety Manager, Clinical Site Directors and infection control physician in assisting with the teammate health infection control;

  • Collaborates with medical site administration, central departments, and management to carry out occupational health and infection prevention program elements to improve patient outcomes, teammate satisfaction and clinical outcomes.

  • Coordinates immunizations and testing clinics telephonically and through the electronic teammate health medical record system (ReadySet) for pre-placement, annual, and post exposure testing which includes MMR, varicella, Hepatitis B, TDAP, flu vaccine, respiratory fit testing, and tuberculin testing;

  • Manages teammate health medical record system (ReadySet) specific to each teammate for seasonal influenza, MMR, Varicella and Tdap vaccinations, new hire and annual TB screenings, and N95 medical screening status.

  • Distinguishes between normal and abnormal findings and evaluates which findings need collaboration or referral to other health professionals;

  • When authorized, reviews teammate charts for periodic or special audits;

  • Maintains frequent personal and telephonic contact daily with clinic ancillary services (such as radiology, clinical laboratories) with reference to teammate test reports, urgent as well as routine;

  • Conducts education and training with teammates and managers as it relates to teammate health;

  • Provide reports, data and trends as it relates to teammate health;

  • Medical surveillance of: Respiratory, TB, Flu programs;

  • Monitors teammate illnesses.

OTHER FUNCTIONS PERFORMED AS NECESSARY:

  • Interfaces with external licensing/accrediting bodies and auditors performing audits on teammate development records. Provides requested information and answers questions within scope of responsibility.

  • Maintains audio visual equipment stored in PS/Training department. Maintains tracking system for checking out items.

  • Participates in performance improvement by reporting opportunities for improvement to manager, participating in monitoring and evaluation process for department and reporting variances from policy/procedure.

  • Uses available resources effectively. Seeks assistance or direction when uncertain or unfamiliar with operations or procedures.

  • Willingly accepts and performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Medical Specialties certification.

  • Minimum of 3 years clinical training experience preferred.

  • Additional education or training may be substituted for above requirements.

  • BLS Certification.

  • Excellent computer skills to include strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Electronic Health Records, and Patient Scheduling software programs.

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, outstanding presentation/facilitation abilities.

  • Good verbal and written communications skills, including tact and diplomacy when dealing with the public/teammate.

  • Ability to perform job duties with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with competing priorities.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent Preferred.

  • Medical background such as MA with RMA or CMA preferred.

  • Working knowledge of E-Training or similar training software.

  • Working knowledge of E-Health Records, and Patient Scheduling software programs.

  • Demonstrated experience in designing, developing, and evaluating training programs.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, design training materials, and interpret business correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or teammates of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual will be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
